EMCI certifies companies, professionals and products within the maritime industry. EMCI operates worldwide as a maritime examination, certification and registry organization.

Since 2001, the professional description has been lifted and anyone can call themselves a yacht broker, contractor and appraiser. The group of yacht brokers, through the NBMS, joined forces and created a certifying body. To maintain the quality of yacht brokers. Among other things, EMCI does the following:

• Professional professional training for certification;
• Maintenance of knowledge and skills during certification based on mandatory continuing education;
• Accountable under the rules of conduct and complaint & disciplinary law;
• Active in local, national and international markets;
• Part of a broad international network of maritime professionals that stands for experience, quality, cooperation and continuity;
• Optional access to the international Global Yacht & Shipbrokers Network that includes a complete management quality manual and various group service contracts such as professional liability insurance.
• EMCI is ISO 9001:2008 certified by Lloyds Register in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The corresponding registrations are registered with United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) in London, England, and Raad voor Accreditatie (RVA) in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
