Advice: valuation for insurance purposes

Many insurers use an old-for-new rule, whereby compensation for damages is based on the current value of the boat. To avoid surprises, it is wise to have the boat appraised at least once every three years. This ensures that the insurance value remains current, and prevents you from being underinsured due to depreciation or market fluctuations. Some insurers even require a recent appraisal when taking out or renewing a policy.

Regular appraisals provide security and prevent unexpected financial risks in the event of damage, sale or insurance claims.
