The Limburgia is a familiar sight in the port of Rotterdam, and many a skipper or tugboat captain will certainly (re)know the boat. The boat has been owned by the family since 1963 and has always been used professionally and maintained as such. Originally the boat was designed for a Deutz, but the war years threw a spanner in the works, and the boat was equipped with a steam engine. Only when the boat came into the family’s possession was it immediately fitted with a Brons, taken from a sunken coaster, and after 70 years of faithful service is still doing its job. In theory, the boat can still be used perfectly well in commercial navigation, all the papers are there and the technology works and has been kept up to date. However, we also see a monumental value and the boat can be used recreationally or for living. With the possible installation of a smaller engine, a part of the engine room could be made habitable.
